Story of Pagal Baba
Every temple of Vrindawan have stories hidden in it. One of the temples is Bake BIHARI Ji temple where a person Pagal Baba story was told to me by one of the temple priests.
I asked them after seeing the posters of Pagal Baba and they were very happy while telling me the beautiful story. The story is as under –
One of the old man who stayed in a village was very poor, he needed money so that he can manage the wedding of his daughter for which he took loan of 2,00,000 Rupees. from a money lender of the village. The money lender told the old villager that he should pay back the amount in 12 instalments and if he failed to any of the instalment he will have to pay back the whole amount again.
The villager wasn’t imposed any interest charges as he was very poor.
Months passed by, and the villager was paying all the instalments on time. He paid 11 instalments on time but could not pay the 12th one.
He asked the lender to give him a day or two, as he could not earn enough money to pay the last one instalment money.
The lender was a clever person; he filed a case on the villager stating that he hasn’t paid him any amount not even a single statement.
On the judgement day when the argument was brought up the villager was asked to give proof for his innocence.
The villager said that there is one person who can help me and tell you the truth.
The judge asked to the villager, who is he?
The villager replied – “Thakur Jee”.
Everyone in the court became silent and started laughing at the villager, then later after some time when the judge was about to take his decision, appeared an old man to the court.
His face was glowing; there was something special in him that attracted everyone to look at him.
The judge asked him, if he had any proof relating to the man.
The old man smiled and said yes, I have seen him making payment to that money lender and asked the judge to once again check the Bahi-Khata, of that lender ( Books of accounts).
When the judge inspected back the books of accounts all the entries og receipt appered now which were earlier invisible.
Seeing this, the judge declared the villager innocent and later when looked around in the court the man disappeared.
At this the judge realized it was not normal thing. His Thakur Jee came and blessed him and went back away. The judge could not digest this and he went mad and started staying at temples searching for GOD sacrificing whatever he owned.
At the end of the day he collected the remaining food from the leftover food by the villagers in the plates, first he offered that food as ‘Bhog’ to Krishna ji and later he himself ate it.
This became his routine for lifetime, but one day he was very hungry and there was only one Bite of ‘chapatti’ left in one of the plates.
Being hungry he thought how I can offer this to Krishna, let me eat it by myself as I am very hungry and as soon as he kept that bite in mouth he became restless and began to sweat, he couldn’t eat that bite of chapatti.
And then appears Shri Krishna to him in his childhood form, and tells
“Lala, sari duniya ka jootha mujhe khilaya, an khud ka bhi khila do na”
At this the baba smiles, tears flows and share that bite with him and enjoy with little Krishna.
