These words ‘yes, you CAN’ have special magic in them.
They inspire me to do the hardest tasks of life wearing the simplest jewel ‘my smile’ ON.
I was introduced to these golden words with my mom when I was in 4th standard.
I was an obidient kid with lots of demands but I kept my demands only when I knew my parents can fulfill them .
I learned the secret of winning hearts from my granny and grandpaa.
Among seven grandchildren I am still most favourite of my grannies.
They taught me that never complain and never ‘demand’ the things which your parents cannot afford.
I was more close to my grandparents then parents, I easily discussed with them new things, I used to talk with them about birds and they shared with me stories of their time.
So one day I told grandpaa, I want to study in an English medium school after my final exams.
I was from a village, of a marwari family at Rajasthan.
There were very less people educated there. I went to most disciplined Hindi medium school there but sending me to an English medium school was very difficult as there were no English medium school at my village.
I told grannpaa if I should speak on it to my parents or not ?
They said me ‘no’.
And said you continue with your Hindi studies now, and we will convince your parents about your going to new school.
I became happy and started concentrating on improving my writing skills.
Soon cane my birthday in month of May, mom dad surprised me that after the vacations I have to not go back to old school instead and I and my little brother will go to new school in the nearby town.
We will go there via a private vehicle everyday which will save our time and also be safe.
This was the best birthday surprise for me as a kid of 10 years old.
I hugged my mom and dad and thanked grandparents.
I started preparing for my admission examination.
I hardly knew to English,
And as I began studies, I began to fear.
I worked hard but still nothing entered my mind .
Then I went to mom and said,
” मम्मा, मुझे ईगंलिश बोलना नहीं आता, मुझे नये स्कूल नहीं जाना” |
( Mom, I don’t want to study in English medium school, I don’t know to speak English with a sad face. )
Mom smiled and took me in her laps and said,
“See you already spoke two words in English, now convert the whole line into English.
I tried my tongue on it .
Mom, I do not know ..
I do not ….
Mom – ‘ yes, you CAN !’
Try again, she whispered.
And I completed the sentence
I do not know English.
This was the first lesson of life and also the first sentence I spoke in English by myself.
From that day onwards I started learning English with all my efforts.
I also cleared the admission with good grades and I got an Excellent for my handwriting on the very first exam in the new school.
Also while coming back from the school after 12 years, on the last day my class gave me title of ‘Miss Fluent Words’ and best speech 2013.
They were best joys of school life.
So I would say ‘Yes, You CAN’ is magical :).
Because nothing is impossible.
Everyone must use these words to motivate others and self ;).
By self I mean, the soul !
Because ‘You’ needs to be replaced with ‘I’ if you talk to yourself and not the soul :p.
Hope you liked it :).
Share with me your ‘yes, you CAN’ moments too :).
Enjoy and kill your ” KAKORRHAPHIOPHOBIA”
